InfoWatch expands to Latin America under Natalya Kaspersky

In January 2015 InfoWatch company helmed by worldwide known IT entrepreneur, co-founder of Kaspersky Lab Mrs. Natalya Kaspersky started active development of new international Latin America market. Up to date InfoWatch has more than 10 dedicated partners and system integrators in the region, cooperation with Ministries of communications in several countries of the region, and pilot projects in financial companies in Columbia and Peru on its balance.

The most active InfoWatch partners in Latin America are Akainix Pentagon Security Chile, a prominent system integrator in Chile, which started with InfoWatch at an early stage of entering the market and now has engineers certified for implementing InfoWatch solutions; Telextorage and Crystal Solutions, large system integrators in Argentina; Innova Tecnologia y Concepto S.A.C – very active InfoWatch Partner in Peru; LAN Security, information security solutions distributor in Columbia. Besides, InfoWatch is in process of negotiations with top IT distributors and system integrators in Brazil. Moreover, InfoWatch develops its own sales agent (local representatives) chain in each international region.

In mid-April the delegation of Cuban Ministry of Informatics and Communications visited InfoWatch Moscow office as part of official visit to Moscow for sharing experiences, enhancement of Russian-Cuban cooperation and strengthening of friendly ties between Cuban and Russian Ministries. Deputy Minister of communications in Cuban Government Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal expressed high interest in expanding InfoWatch solutions to the Cuban market both on intergovernmental and commercial level.

Besides in March and April 2015 InfoWatch experts held two webinars for Latin America countries – “Confidential data leaks: is there escape?” (speaker – InfoWatch Group CEO Natalya Kaspersky) and “How to protect business from financial losses? InfoWatch advises” (speaker – InfoWatch Group Deputy-CEO Vsevolod Ivanov).

Further to the visit sharing experience as part of bilateral visits of company executives for cooperation enhancement was planned, as well as InfoWatch technologies implementation in Desoft (leading Cuban software developer) education centers together with Ministry of Informatics and Communications of Cuba, development of education courses based on InfoWatch technologies for Universities and Education centers in Cuba.

«In recent years the influence of USA on Latin America countries is weakening. The states of the region become more independent, new players come to Latin America market, including international investors from Europe and Asia, for example from China, Russia, etc. The region has changed significantly; if in 90-ies Latin America experienced a number of economic crises, then in 2000-ies most countries of the region show a stable growth. That is why the attractiveness of Latin America market for Russian companies in terms of business development and investments grows year by year», – comments Latin America Region Executive at InfoWatch Andrey Sokurenko.

«According to Russian Institute of Strategic Researches established by Russian President, as of 2014 Russia mainly delivers technical-warfare goods, rolled steel, electrotechnical equipment, and fertilizer materials to Latin America countries. But high-tech products delivery to the region has the major potential for Russian business, moreover delivery not only by state corporations, but also by private companies is in demand.

Taking the abovementioned factor into account, InfoWatch Group considers Latin America market to be very attractive; InfoWatch is ready to deliver its high-tech solutions in field of enterprise information security to the region. Till the end of 2015 we plan building effective partner chain in all key countries of the region, implementing a number of pilot projects in companies of the industries, key for InfoWatch business, such as financial, mining, manufacturing, telecom, etc., as well as signing first contracts to deliver our solutions to Latin America», – specifies Andrey Sokurenko.

«Unfortunately today far not all companies in Latin America understand the severity of confidential data leak problem and know little about Data Leak Prevention (DLP). There is no such habit to publicly declare data leaks in the region, therefore many companies facing this threat do not make this information public. Meanwhile, according to IBM latest research, this year information leaks resulted in huge financial losses for Latin America companies in the sum of 3,5 mln USD and grew by 15 per cent as against 2013.

Argentina is the global leader and the second country in the region after Brazil in the number of data leaks[1]. The third place takes Columbia (according to the research, 85 per cent of local firms experienced internal data leaks, and 50 per cent of local organizations feel not safe about their security systems).

This means necessity for sharing global knowledge and experience of protection against data leaks with Latin America countries. InfoWatch at its end actively holds education webinars and conferences dedicated to this problem, means and measure of protection, and best practices. InfoWatch technologies not only detect data leaks at an early stage but also prevent these leaks before they damage company reputation and bring real financial losses», – comments Eliana Todua, InfoWatch Business development manager in Latin America.

As a reminder, InfoWatch supplies the following solutions to the international market: InfoWatch Traffic Monitor Enterprise (Data Leak Prevention for enterprises), InfoWatch Traffic Monitor Standard Appliance for SMB (Data Leak Prevention for SMB), InfoWatch EndPoint Security (protection of workstations within corporate network), and InfoWatch Appercut (source code analysis of business applications).
