Optometry Group settles data breach case for 3.5M dollars
The National Board of Examiners in Optometry plans to allot $3.25 million in a cash settlement fund to compensate approximately 61,000 victims of an alleged data breach that hit the profession nearly three years ago, the website InvisionMag reports with reference to the American Optometric Association. The class action settlement also outlines steps NBEO will take to upgrade its data security practices. Chief U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar of Maryland gave preliminary approval to the settlement on March 7.
Tesla sues former employees, Zoox for alleged trade secret theft
Tesla  has filed a pair of lawsuits against a handful of former employees who went to work at self-driving vehicle startup Zoox and Chinese EV automaker Xiaopeng, The TechCrunch reports. The separate lawsuits filed late Wednesday allege former Tesla  employees stole trade secrets and used them at their new places of employment. Tesla declined to comment on either lawsuit.
German firm appeals 4.5M dollars award in 11th circuit

Over 300M Chinese private messages were left exposed online
Over 300 million private messages from Chinese users on popular messaging apps were sitting exposed on the internet on Saturday, according to security researcher Victor Gevers, who works for the nonprofit organization GDI. The database of 364 million records left users’ personal identities searchable to anyone who found the IP address, as reported by the Financial Time, The Verge writes.
