p>InfoWatch is forecasting the tendencies of Russian IT and IS market growth for 2009. The demand for products and services in IS segment is forecasted to be stable even with the probable decrease of income on IT market in general.
World financial crisis is dictating total decrease of costs for business, which inevitably leads to decrease of expenses on IT in all companies. According to IDC press-release from November 2008, world expenses on IT in 2009 will grow merely by 2,6 %, which is noticeably less, then pre-crisis IDC forecast (5,9 %). The decrease of expenses for software in Russia may be less noticeable. Part of users (personal users most of all) might redirect to free software which is widely available. Usage of pirated software most likely will be reduced to minimum.
InfoWatch experts forecast less decrease in IS market sales comparing to IT industry as a whole, because security usually is given more priority while distributing finances in the company. It might be said, that instinct of self-preservation is one of the main human instincts along with human needs in food and habitation. Besides, the governmental and industry standard requirements to big corporations which don’t let companies avoid security expanses lately have grown significantly.
As Ilya Shabanov (Director of analytical department of InfoWatch) states, the importance of IS for business during the period of crisis increases as the total sum of damage from data loss or leakage grows. “ for example, in present circumstances, important data leakage can not only shake company’s financial stability but also put its existence under the question. The most competent directors understand this very well”-the expert notices.
Many international experts agree with Infowatch analytical forecast. According to recently published IDC survey (Worldwide Security Products 2008-2012 Forecast Postcrisis) in spite of financial crisis 2008, IS products have shown good sales results. “IDC forecasts more stable growth of IS products sales comparing with other IT decisions first of all because of the regulators’ requirements and business-risks. Our research report keeps on registering stable consumer investments in growing industries, such as Hosted Security and virtualization services”—Brian Burk, director of IS IDC software, comments. “Moreover, recent IDC survey on economical decrease has shown that security industry is the least subject to narrow during the economical crisis”.
As to InfoWatch company, the forecasted income growth in 2009 is mostly due to launch of new products and product lines. It is a new DLP product for SMB segment (launch is planned on the 2nd quarter of 2009) and an integrated pack for encryption of important company information, which is proposed to be launched in the first quarter of 2009.
