This year's event hosted by Forbes Middle East in Dubai was to explore how big data could disrupt business. The conference brought together some 200 IT experts, business leaders, and innovators from the Middle East and international organizations, including representatives of the region's largest technology companies – GBM, Schneider Electric, Oracle, SAP, SAS, and Microsoft – speaking of challenges and opportunities they face when collecting and using big data.
Three panel discussions addressed big data analysis, AI power, and cloud computing capabilities, giving a closer look at the best practices for user data processing.
Mahmoud El Tabarane, Head of Operations at InfoWatch, joined the third panel discussion on “What are the best practices when dealing with data privacy?” He spoke about several key aspects of cybersecurity best practices for preserving confidentiality and stressed how critical the human factor could be. “You cannot protect data without knowing what the data is. You need to understand what type of data you have and who has access to it. The human factor is, we all are humans, we can make mistakes. You need to make your employees aware of how to handle data. You need to invest in the human factor more than you invest in a solution”, - saying Mahmoud.
