InfoWatch, a developer of solutions for corporate clients against internal threats, along with Kaspersky Labs and Hewlett-Packard, on January 10-17 2005, in Varadero, Cuba, held a seminar for the Russian clients, entitled “Internal threats: a new challenge for IT-security. The problem and the solutions”.
The seminar was attended by IT-directors and IT-specialists from the largest Russian government and corporate organizations, such as VOHEC RAO “UES of Russia”, Transneft, Vymplekom, Vneshtorgbank, Federal Customs Agency of Russia.
During the seminar, a list of questions was discussed, which included questions about both internal IT-security problems in general and confidential information breaches specifically. Leading InfoWatch specialists showed an overview of trends in this area, offered complex solutions for the problem of confidential data security, looked at the accompanying questions. Evgeny Preobrazhensky, director-general of InfoWatch, showed the first Russian study regarding internal IT-security. Rustem Khairetdinov, sales director, showed a report on InfoWatch products and services. Denis Zenkin, marketing director, looked at the legal aspects of the introduction of data leaks security software. Sergei Zemkov, corporate sales manager of Kaspersky Labs, hosted a meeting regarding the introduction of a complex security system, which includes both internal and external threat security. Garald Bandurin, IT-director of VOHEC RAO UES, showed the concept of corporate information system and shared his experience about the installation of InfoWatch solutions and HP OpenView.
The presentations and the astonishing study results flared the audience's interest and caused a big discussion to happen.
The general sponsor of the event was Hewlett-Packard, a worldwide supplier of key technologies for corporate clients as well as end users. HP specialists participated actively in the organization process and held a specialized section, entitled “Unification of IT-service control and security based on HP OpenView — an effective loss of IT-related risks”. The participators were shown a model of the use of HP OpenView for integrated corporate information system control and control IT-security. A model of integration of HP OpenView and InfoWatch was shown as an example, the joint use of which can make the introduction of the confidential information control system much easier, lower the maintenance and control costs, and raise the stability of the client's IT-infrastructure as a whole. The unification of IT-service control and security, based on the integrated set of instruments of HP OpenView and InfoWatch was caused by a common set of goals: control centralization, setting IT to rights, the transparency of control procedures.
