InfoWatch, one of the leading global providers of data loss prevention (DLP) systems, announced today the beginning of its operations in Brazil through commercial partners. The country is the first in Latin America to have a representative of the company, which operates in more than 50% of the Russian information security market. Esyword is the company authorized to sell InfoWatch’s products in Brazil, the vendor is now in negotiations with Pars Sonos Group.
With ten years of experience in the Russian DLP market, InfoWatch wants to grow in the Latin America from its Brazilian operation. “We are ready to expand because we know our solutions are fully aligned with the demand from local customers,” said Andrey Sokurenko, Development and Businesses Director, InfoWatch. A recent study by Ponemon Institute (“2013 Cost of Data Breach Study: Global Analysis”) shows companies based in Brazil spend an average R$793 million every year to make up for losses, while investing only R$117 million to protect information.
Hacker attacks occur in 23% of the cases, system failures account for 35%, and employees leak information in 42% of the cases. According to Sokurenko, the solution is to change the data protection strategy. “The DLP market in Brazil and Latin America is incipient. Strict data protection laws are still missing, but the Brazilian government pays much attention to the matter and provides guidance to companies, especially in the financial industry. The idea is to take every measure possible to protect citizens’ personal data. And there is no doubt DLP solutions are the best to face this challenge.”
In Brazil, the companies interested in protecting their information have two solutions available, introduced by InfoWatch in the international market: InfoWatch Traffic Monitor Enterprise, DLP software that monitors information flows and protects confidential information from leakage and unauthorized distribution; and Infowatch Endpoint Security, information security software for workstations, removable media, and mobile devices designed for quick implementation and easy management.
