In a training lab of InfoWatch Group, a Russian vendor of end-to-end enterprise cybersecurity solutions, students of the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (MIEM HSE) passed an exam in a Project Seminar discipline as part of Information and Communication Technologies and Communication Systems curriculum. As a result, 80+ bachelor students defended their enterprise cybersecurity projects with flying colors.
The project-oriented scientific and research curriculum is designed for 3rd-year students of MIEM HSE and comprises several modules, which are to help students develop their research and public presentation skills, as well as professional competence regarding the use of automated systems for enterprise protection against internal cyber threats.
One of the modules, Project Seminar, was first introduced in this 2018-2019 academic year and is based on the training program developed by the employees of MIEM HSE’s InfoWatch department. As part of the module, students study the architecture and operation of the automated information flow control system, as well as obtain enterprise information security audit skills.
“During the seminar, we taught students prudent research techniques and professional competence in user and engineer operation of such systems,” said Sergey Kharitonov, Head of Methodological Support and Education Project Development, InfoWatch Group. “We hope this knowledge will contribute to the success of both students’ graduation theses and their further career.”
It should be noted that the company opened InfoWatch enterprise cybersecurity department in 2017 as part of the School of Electronic Engineering of MIEM HSE. During the 2018-2019 academic year, over 160 3rd- and 4th-year students undergo trainings developed by InfoWatch experts. In addition, this year, for the first time, successful students enrolled for master’s degree program ‘Internet of Things and Cyberphysical Systems,’ which is delivered at MIEM HSE and supported by InfoWatch.
