Two senior executives of an IT company were arrested for allegedly stealing data and diverting crores belonging to their employer to set up their own firm, the website Deccan Herald reports.
The accused are Prathap B V (32), senior manager, and Karthik Srinivasan (35), manager (operations), at ION IDEA. The company is located at the Export Promotion Industrial Park Zone in Whitefield and has branches in several countries. The accused are residents of Kalkere, near Horamavu.
DCP (Whitefield) Abdul Ahad said that ION IDEA grew suspicious and verified the duo’s activities.d
The accused quit ION IDEA in November 2018 but failed to return the laptops. A probe revealed that the accused, between November 2017 and November 2018, started a company called CAPTIVE MED SOLUTIONS and had stolen ION IDEA’s data, including the client list, and were also diverting the funds illegally went they were sent to the US.
Prathap joined the company in 2012 and Karthik in 2013. After they were promoted, the accused took advantage of their position and accessed confidential data. They began using it to their firm’s advantage while continuing to work with ION IDEA.
ION IDEA also found the accused had infringed on the company’s intellectual property. The company tracked Karthik’s laptop and found all the details. Bramhananda Y P, manager of administration, ION IDEA, filed a police complaint on January 10.
