The police tried to dampen the hype, having announced that these materials do not place the work of security services under threat.
As journalists have ascertained, a bag containing a secret dossier was forgotten on a train by a Scotland Yard employee. It was later discovered by an incidental passenger, who returned it to its owners. However, the incident could have had a completely different outcome, had the plans of Scotland Yard fallen into the hands of potential terrorists.
InfoWatch’s analytical centre reports that this is far from the first instance in Britain, when employees of various services have left documents containing confidential information on public transport.
