GTA (Georgia Technology Authority) warns 465,000 Georgia drivers and government workers that they are at the risk of ID theft due to private data leakage registered last April, reported 11 Alive. GTA is the state's chief data agency, operating and maintaining the state's computer and telephone systems. However, the state agency said it has received no reports of misuse of confidential information found on the home computers of a former programmer for the agency, and revealed for the first time that the breach occurred in 2002. The incident went unnoticed until April, 2005 when another employee noticed the programmer logged in after hours to a data system in which he was no longer assigned to work. An investigation followed.
