A health care company is offering free credit monitoring to staff and more than 2,000 patients after an ex-worker was charged with stealing credit card information from cancer patients, Virginian-Pilot reports.
33-year-old T'sha Riddick was charged last month in Chesapeake District Court with identity theft and fraud. Riverside Health System spokesman Peter Glagola says Riddick was hired as an unlicensed medical assistant who wasn't required to undergo a background check. Glagola says the hospital system was unaware Riddick was previously convicted in North Carolina of two felonies, including credit card fraud.
Riverside oversees hospitals, a medical group, surgery centers, retirement communities and home-care services.
