InfoWatch Provides TaigaPhone for Mobile E-Document Management at North Ossetia Government

InfoWatch Group, a Russian vendor of enterprise cybersecurity solutions, and the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania have announced the implementation of TaigaPhone hardware and software suite to ensure secure e-document management via mobile devices at supreme executive bodies of the Republic. TaigaPhone is a part of InfoWatch Traffic Monitor, a DLP system protecting organizations against internal cyber threats, and comprises a protected smartphone with a trusted Android firmware. The project involves representatives of the supreme republican authorities and is being implemented by the Republican ICT Administration, State Unitary Enterprise Information Technology Center and InfoWatch Group specialists who successfully tested and customized a mobile client of the Republican EDMS on TaigaPhone devices and made sure the InfoWatch solution is compatible with the office app suite and VPN client used by North Ossetia government staff for remote work via mobile devices.

“North Ossetia is gradually becoming an IT import substitution center of excellence that implements the best-of-breed domestic solutions into its infrastructure,” noted Alan Salbiev, Head of ICT Administration of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. “We are the first Russian region to adopt TaigaPhone to secure data management and protect mobile workstations for supreme authorities.”

According to Alan Salbiev, this unique Russian-made solution combined with the software used by North Ossetia government will enable its staff to remotely manage documents in a legally valid and secure way.

InfoWatch TaigaPhone hardware and software suite protects organizations against data leaks via mobile devices and controls smartphone use at work. TaigaPhone trusted firmware is based on Enterprise Android OS and prevents unauthorized remote disabling of any smartphone components or functions, as well as data interception or transmission to third parties. Moreover, TaigaPhone enables security officers to fine-tune privacy policies for each individual user, track smartphone location, and, if it is lost, remotely wipe information contained on it.

“Smartphones have become an integral part of all today’s business processes in both government and private sector,” said Alexey Nagorny, CEO of JSC InfoWatch. “Advanced technologies make it possible to manage corporate documents, promptly execute business processes and respond to changes. However, along with the benefits, such technologies pose obvious risks. The protection of increasingly more valuable digital data, especially crucial government information, is one of the top national priorities. TaigaPhone logs all unauthorized activities related to corporate data, protects devices against external intruders, and controls apps installed.”

TaigaPhone was unveiled at the 10th International Business Information Security Summit (BIS Summit 2017) in Moscow and then showcased to the Middle East market as part of GITEX Technology Week 2017, an international trade show of information and telecom technologies, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
