Russia to Foster Unique IoT Cybersecurity Specialists

InfoWatch Group, a Russian vendor of end-to-end enterprise cybersecurity solutions, and National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) have announced a master’s degree program ‘Internet of Things and Cyberphysical Systems’ to be delivered at HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE).

This full-time master’s degree program takes two years and provides comprehensive specialist training in 19 IoT subjects, including theory and hands-on skills in the engineering of IoT devices and cyberphysical systems, software development, Big Data, and cybersecurity of corporate and industrial infrastructures as part of the IoT concept. Enrollees will be able to submit applications from June 20 to August 16, 2018.

InfoWatch will provide both its specialists as course lecturers and hardware/software for cybersecurity classes.

The development of IoT and a great number of emerging technologies, which employ various Internet connection protocols, architectures, and operating systems, catalyze many new cyber threats undefeatable by a universal tool, such as an antivirus, said Natalya Kaspersky, President of InfoWatch Group.Taking publicly available information alone, hundreds of thousands of devices still remain unprotected, raising a huge cybersecurity issue. Today, IoT is already used in both manufacturing and smart city design, where cybersecurity is a matter of top priority. InfoWatch has been protecting data for over 15 years and offers a unique set of cybersecurity audit and protection services for industrial control systems. We are convinced that the course graduates will be in great demand on the market.

The master’s degree program will be supervised by Leonid Voskov, Professor of the School of Computer Engineering at MIEM HSE.

The MIEM HSE’s innovative master’s degree program ‘Internet of Things and Cyberphysical Systems’ is supported by leading Russian and international companies, including InfoWatch, National Instruments, IBM, PTC, and RigTech. Since these companies are actively implementing IoT technologies into their production and corporate processes, students will have an opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in advanced IoT solutions in a real business environment and get certified by leading IoT companies,” said Leonid Voskov. “The master’s degree program is intended as end-to-end training to prepare highly qualified IoT and cyberphysical system specialists knowledgeable of cloud technology, wireless sensor networks, hardware and software and embedded IoT systems, Big Data and Big Analog Data, as well as field-specific cybersecurity, and capable of running world-class R&D.

The master’s degree program became yet another milestone in comprehensive cooperation between MIEM HSE and InfoWatch Group. It should be noted that the company had already opened InfoWatch enterprise cybersecurity department as part of the School of Electronic Engineering of MIEM HSE and started an InfoWatch scholarship program at MIEM HSE aimed to help tech students maximize their intellectual and creative potential in cybersecurity.
