InfoWatch perfects weaponry for combating insiders

InfoWatch announces the release of new versions of its solutions combating confidential information leaks via e-mail and the Internet. InfoWatch Mail Monitor 2006 and InfoWatch Web Monitor 2006 set the highest standards of productivity, reliability and fault tolerance for the protection of large corporate networks.

InfoWatch, a developer of systems to protect confidential information from insiders, announces the launch of new versions of its flagship products — InfoWatch Mail Monitor 2006 and InfoWatch Web Monitor 2006. An impressive range of architectural and functional innovations provide the customer with a qualitatively new level of productivity, reliability and fault tolerance.

InfoWatch Mail Monitor (IMM) and InfoWatch Web Monitor (IWM) detect and prevent the forwarding of confidential documents via electronic mail and Internet services (Web mail, chats, Web forums, etc.). The products carry out a complex filtration of traffic in real time, blocking potentially dangerous messages and immediately informing the IT security officer of any violations. In conjunction with other elements of the InfoWatch family they create a complex, multi-layered solution for protecting confidential information and controlling all possible leakage channels.

The new versions of IMM and IWM substantially increase the ability of companies to detect and prevent leaks. The products support a cluster of mail servers, which allows increased volumes of traffic to be processed — up to 10GB per day on every server cluster without causing any significant delay in the delivery of messages.

One of the most important technological innovations of the new versions concerns the architecture of data monitoring: IMM 2006 and IWM 2006 support independent filtration and management subsystems. This division has led to a solution with a qualitatively new level of fault tolerance, convenience and reliability. If one element of the system is disabled for some reason, the other elements continue to work normally, redistributing the workload and functions. The IT security officer can independently adjust the rules and database of content filtration, work with any messages held in quarantine, create operational reports and centrally manage the clusters. Moreover, those operations will not affect the filtration aspect of the solution. In order to guarantee the integrity of all correspondence, a caching function has been incorporated into several processing stages in the solution, which also increases its reliability and productivity.

IMM 2006 and IWM 2006 not only provide control over the text content of a message but also any attached files. Acrobat (PDF) has been added to the list of supported formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, HTML, Plain text, ZIP, ARJ, RAR). A new user interface has also been developed for both products which improves the clarity of onscreen information, provides convenient centralized control and transparency of the controlled items and processes.

An integral part of any corporate policy to protect confidential information is the creation of a highly productive archive for e-mail correspondence and Web traffic for retrospective analysis of incidents and to comply with the provisions of Russian and international legislation. An improved interface (API) has been incorporated into the new versions of IMM and IWM for greater integration with InfoWatch Mail Storage. This has improved the control and overall operation of the integrated solution, almost doubling the processing speed of messages, as well as providing new capabilities for conducting contextual searches and creating specialized reports.

“InfoWatch Mail Monitor 2006 and InfoWatch Web Monitor 2006 offer our customers effective instruments for preventing leaks of confidential information. The new functional features of the products place them in the vanguard of contemporary IT achievements and confirm the high status of Russian security technology,” says Evgeny Preobrazhensky, the general director of InfoWatch.

Despite the increased functional capabilities, the prices of the new versions of InfoWatch Mail Monitor and InfoWatch Web Monitor have remained at the same level. The cost of an IMM license for one mailbox starts at $35, and from $29 per workstation for an IWM license.
