AlfaStrakhovanie Secures Data with InfoWatch Traffic Monitor

InfoWatch Group, a Russian vendor of end-to-end enterprise cybersecurity solutions, and AlfaStrakhovanie, one of Russia’s largest insurance companies, have completed the deployment of InfoWatch Traffic Monitor, a DLP system that is now protecting the insurer’s headquarters against confidential data leaks and internal threats. Moreover, the customer is now planning to roll out the solution to its regional branches.

AlfaStrakhovanie has been using enterprise data leak prevention systems for over four years; however, in 2016, the company decided to improve its overall cybersecurity and started looking for a new DLP service provider.

According to Mikhail Firsov, Head of Information Security Department at AlfaStrakhovanie PLC, their legacy DLP system lacked extra functionality that would enable content analysis of information flows, violation blocking, and the integration with security information and event management (SIEM) system. Moreover, the company needed the new incident response workflow to be aligned with its existing escalation procedure.

In 2017, after the commissioning of InfoWatch Traffic Monitor, AlfaStrakhovanie significantly increased the number of confidential data types being under control, with the amount of false positives dropping from 33% to 4%. In the next six months, InfoWatch Traffic Monitor proved to be a truly cost effective solution covering many more confidential data transmission processes to reveal their vulnerabilities and prevent incidents that could ruin the company’s reputation.

Customer data security is one of our top priorities. The project success encouraged us to leverage the InfoWatch competences at our regional branches as well. Our extensive cooperation with InfoWatch will ensure secure data management for more than 7,000 employees of AlfaStrakhovanie Group,” added Mikhail Firsov.

With more than 14-year track record of protecting enterprises against internal cyber threats, InfoWatch has gained rich experience in various sectors,” said Konstantin Levin, Sales Director, InfoWatch Group. “Therefore, we can withstand tough competition with both domestic and global vendors. We offer the most relevant technologies, the efficiency of which is proven by users. This is paramount for those industries where confidential data protection, leak and internal threat prevention are top priorities.”
